Comment Deadline For the Moratorium
Today is a great day to tell the town board to support the moratorium! Leave a comment here to voice your support: https://www.lansingtownny.gov/contact
The moratorium would limit large scale development in Lansing, NY for one year. The most up-to-date version of the law, as well as public comments regarding the law can be found in Lansing’s Supporting Documents packet here. While the moratorium isn’t intended to block TeraWulf specifically, the data center would be included in the developments impacted by the moratorium.
Exemptions include but are not limited to developments under 6000sqft, all emergency situations (rebuilding, replacement, and repair), not-for-profits businesses, churches, recreational uses, and more
The moratorium also wouldn’t make TeraWulf go away forever. It would allow for updated zoning to improve the outcome of the project if it were to happen. We don’t want TeraWulf here, but this moratorium is a win for residents whether Terawulf develops here or not. During a moratorium residents would have the opportunity to shape zoning laws through public comment. It would ensure that the implications of large scale development for the town are understood, and that everything we value about this community, including its beauty, is protected.
Please consider leaving an online comment and attending the Town Board Meeting on November 19th to give a live comment!
