Resolution Passed!

On January 20, the Tompkins County Legislature voted 12-1 (with 1 recused) to pass the resolution asking the DEC to require Cayuga Operating Company to submit a new water withdrawal permit.

Thanks to all of our community members who gave a comment or came to support! We packed the meeting room and some legislators said it was the largest crowd they have seen at these meetings.

What Will Happen Next?

The Tompkins County Legislature will now send the resolution the DEC, who will ideally conduct an environmental review of the proposed data center’s site and revoke the current water withdrawal permit. Ultimately, the decision rests with the DEC.
