Cayuga Lake Fights AI Data Centers: Press Conference

Sustainable Finger Lakes, FLX Strong, Cayuga Lake Environmental Action Now, Frack Action, No Data Center FLX, Cayuga Lake Environmental Action Now (CLEAN), Third Act Upstate, Environmental Advocates New York, Ithaca DSA and supporters will join Senator Gonzalez and Assemblymember Kelles at a press conference to call on Governor Hochul to sign the Responsible Data Center Development Act. The Cayuga Lake groups will highlight the potential harms and dangers to our lake, our grid reliability, and our communities of TeraWulf's proposed 300 MW AI data center on the shore of Cayuga Lake at the site of a retired coal plant in Lansing. The TeraWulf proposal is deeply problematic and is facing a groundswell of opposition from the greater Cayuga Lake region with the recently delivered petition to the Lansing Town Board of more than 20,000 signatures from NYS residents.

Arrival Instructions

Take Rt 34B north from South Lansing and turn left onto Myers Road opposite the schools. Go down the hill and turn right onto Myers Road just before the railroad tracks. Go over Salmon Creek bridge and turn left into Salt Point by the DEC signs. There is a paved parking lot near this entry. You can park there and walk in, or you may prefer to go over the RR tracks and turn right onto a dirt road and follow it north until you see an open grassy area near the lake and a portajohn. Park in that area. It is okay to park on the grass meadow that is bordered by the dirt road circling around. The 'X' on the map is the flat grassy area on a small bluff overlooking the lake, next to the parking area.
